The adapter works by splitting the eight conductors in a standard Cat.5E or Cat.6 cable across two RJ45 ports — four wires per port — enabling 100 Mbps network access at each end. However, the IPTB0 requires an identical adapter at both ends of the cable run to function correctly. Additionally, both connected devices share the same physical cable, so simultaneous independent gigabit connections are not possible — this is a cable-sharing solution, not a network switch replacement.
