Earthing Copper Tape Saddle Clips
Earthing Copper Tape Saddle Clips are precision-engineered fixing accessories used to mechanically secure flat bare copper earth tape conductors to building surfaces, structural frames, cable trays, substation walls, and other installation substrates. Copper tape clips are used to hold the tape to the structure and are fixed to the surface by using screws. Conex Copper They maintain the earth tape in its correct routed position along walls, concrete surfaces, masonry, timber, and metallic frameworks throughout the length of an earthing or lightning protection system installation.
Earthing tape clips are an essential category of electrical grounding accessories designed to secure flat copper, brass, bronze, or aluminium earthing tapes to various structures, equipment frames, cable trays, building frameworks, and substation infrastructure, ensuring reliable mechanical connection and optimal electrical continuity between earthing conductors and the structures they protect. How It Works
The saddle clip wraps partially around the flat copper earth tape, holding it flat and flush against the mounting surface. The saddle configuration distributes clamping forces across a wider contact area compared to standard flat clips, reducing stress concentration on the earthing tape and minimising the risk of fatigue-induced conductor damage in high-vibration environments. Conexscrews The clip is fastened to the surface via a single central screw hole, using a countersunk woodscrew or masonry bolt depending on the substrate. Bare copper earth tapes can be secured and installed to buildings and substations using metallic DC clips, fixed using countersunk woodscrew 1½″ x No.10 and No.10 wall plug. Power and Cables
Clip Types & Configurations
Copper Tape Saddle Clips are available in several configurations to suit different installation environments and tape sizes:
Light Duty Saddle — For indoor low-stress installations on timber, plasterboard, or lightweight structures. Suited to residential and light commercial earthing runs.
Medium Duty Saddle — General-purpose configuration for standard building earthing and bonding installations on masonry, brick, and concrete surfaces.
Heavy Duty Saddle — For demanding outdoor, substation, and industrial installations subject to vibration, thermal expansion, mechanical stress, or high fault current environments.
DC Tape Clip (One-Piece / Hinged Lid) — UV-stabilised for outdoor location and installation of earth tapes, available in one-piece and hinged lid design. Power and Cables The hinged lid variant allows the tape to be inserted without removing the base from the wall, simplifying installation on long runs.
Rectangular & Cross Saddle — Available in different types including Light, Medium, Heavy, Rectangular, Cross and more with different imperial sizes. Copperearthrod Cross saddles support tape routing in multiple directions from a single fixing point.
Key Features & Benefits
Secure Mechanical Retention — Holds flat copper earth tape firmly in position along its entire routed path, preventing sagging, displacement, or accidental disconnection from the surface.
Wide Contact Area — The saddle profile cradles the full width of the copper tape, distributing mechanical load evenly and protecting the tape from notching, cutting, or deformation at the fixing point.
Corrosion Resistant — Made of brass or gunmetal and used with bare copper tape conductor to secure tape to structure, Copperearthingaccessories ensuring galvanic compatibility with copper earth tape and long-term resistance to oxidation and environmental degradation in both indoor and outdoor environments.
UV Stabilised Options — Clips designed for outdoor exposure are UV-stabilised to prevent degradation from prolonged sunlight, maintaining clip integrity on building facades, rooftops, and exposed substation walls.
Easy Installation — Fixed with a single countersunk woodscrew or masonry anchor. Installation hardware including stainless steel bolts, spring washers, and flat washers in M6, M8, or M10 sizes are available as complete assembly kits that simplify procurement and ensure component compatibility. Compatible with Bare & Covered Tapes — Suitable for use with bare copper, PVC-covered, and LSOH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) copper earth tapes across a range of standard tape widths.
Lightweight & Durable — Highly durable and lightweight, also available in customised forms to meet the varied requirements of the clients. Conex Copper
