Ugreen UG-10950 Network Cable Tester
The UGREEN UG-10950 is a professional-grade cable testing device designed for verifying and troubleshooting Ethernet network installations. This compact tester provides comprehensive diagnostics for both RJ45 and RJ11 cable configurations, making it an essential tool for network technicians and IT professionals.
Dual-Mode Cable Testing Capabilities
The UG-10950 supports testing of multiple cable types through its dual-port configuration. The device features dedicated RJ45 ports for testing Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6a Ethernet cables. Additionally, integrated RJ11 ports enable verification of telephone and modem cables. This versatility eliminates the need for multiple testing devices during installation or troubleshooting tasks.
The tester employs an 8-LED indicator system that corresponds to individual wire pairs. Each LED illuminates sequentially to verify proper pin-to-pin connectivity across all eight conductors. Furthermore, the testing sequence confirms correct wire positioning according to T568A and T568B wiring standards.
Wire Mapping and Fault Detection
Built-in wire mapping functionality identifies common cable defects with precision. The UGREEN UG-10950 detects open circuits where conductors are broken or disconnected. Similarly, the device identifies short circuits caused by unintended connections between wire pairs. Crossed pairs and reversed wiring configurations also trigger specific LED patterns for immediate fault recognition.
The sequential LED testing mode operates automatically once cables are connected to both master and remote units. Each wire pair lights up in numerical order from pins 1 through 8, allowing quick visual confirmation of continuity. Consequently, technicians can diagnose wiring errors without specialized training or complex interpretation.
Portable Design with Remote Testing Unit
The tester includes a detachable remote terminator unit connected via a standard RJ45 cable. This configuration enables testing of installed cables across significant distances. The master unit remains at one endpoint while the remote unit connects at the opposite end, facilitating point-to-point verification in wall-mounted installations.
Both units feature compact dimensions that fit comfortably in tool bags or pockets. The lightweight construction weighs approximately 100 grams for the complete set. Moreover, the device operates on a single 9V battery (6F22 type), providing portable operation without external power requirements.
